Getting started
Which devices does it run on?
Phones and tablets with Android 12 or later and OpenGL ES 3.1. On a tablet, and in any window 840 dp wide or more, the adjustments move to a column beside the photo.
Do I need an Immich server?
No. Without a server, IMAGO shows and edits the photos on your phone. Immich is a second source, for people who already keep their photos there.
How do I connect IMAGO to my Immich server?
In More → Settings, tap Add Immich server and enter the server’s URL and an API key, created in your Immich account settings. The server must be on version 2.6.0 or later.
If you reach the server through more than one address — one at home, another from outside — add them all to the same library with Add address. The app picks whichever answers.
Do I need an IMAGO account?
No. The account is optional, and it’s for having the same edits, presets, templates, brand kit and compositions on more than one device. Without an account, nothing leaves the device.
How do I change the app’s language?
By default IMAGO follows the system’s language. To choose another, go to More → Settings → Language. On Android 13 or later you can also pick it in the system settings, under the app’s language.
Editing and exporting
Does editing change my photo?
No. IMAGO keeps the adjustments separately, as a recipe, and computes the image from the original every time it shows it. The original file is never rewritten.
Where do the photos I export go?
In Export, you can save to the phone’s gallery or send to Immich. On Immich, the export is stacked on the original, so it doesn’t mix with your other photos. Either way it comes out at full resolution.
How do I see the original while editing?
Press and hold the photo, or tap Compare. To bring a single adjustment back to neutral, double-tap its slider.
Can I use the same adjustments on another photo?
Yes. You can copy a photo’s recipe and paste it onto another, or save it in the recipe library to use whenever you want.
Does IMAGO edit RAW files?
Not yet.
Account and privacy
I forgot my password.
On the account sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and follow the email you receive.
How do I take my data?
In Settings → IMAGO account → Manage account → Export data. You get an archive with one JSON file per type of data.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, under Settings → IMAGO account → Manage account → Delete account, or on the Delete your account page.
Do my photos go to any server of yours?
No. They are processed on the device. What the account keeps is described, field by field, in the privacy policy.
